Christmas LIGHTS | Advent | PEACE
Isaiah 9:6-7 // For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.
Matthew 1:18-25 // The birth of Jesus took place like this. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. Before they came to the marriage bed, Joseph discovered she was pregnant. (It was by the Holy Spirit, but he didn’t know that.) Joseph, chagrined but noble, determined to take care of things quietly so Mary would not be disgraced.
While he was trying to figure a way out, he had a dream. God’s angel spoke in the dream: “Joseph, son of David, don’t hesitate to get married. Mary’s pregnancy is Spirit-conceived. God’s Holy Spirit has made her pregnant. She will bring a son to birth, and when she does, you, Joseph, will name him Jesus—‘God saves’—because he will save his people from their sins.” This would bring the prophet’s embryonic sermon to full term:
“Watch for this—a virgin will get pregnant and bear a son; They will name him Immanuel (Hebrew for “God is with us”).”
Then Joseph woke up. He did exactly what God’s angel commanded in the dream: He married Mary. But he did not consummate the marriage until she had the baby. He named the baby Jesus.
Isaiah 7:14 // Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.
1. God’s PEACE is greater than our circumstances
– Luke 1:79 (Zach’s Song) // “to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”
– Psalm 29:11 // The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.
– John 14:27 // Jesus “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”
2. Perfect PEACE transforms who we are
– Philippians 4:7 (CEV) // Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel.
– Psalm 119:165 // Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.
– James 3:18 // And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
3. PEACE for your everyday, not just at Christmas
– John 16:33 // Jesus “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
– 2 Thessalonians 3:16 (GNT) // May the Lord Himself, who is our source of peace, give you peace at all times and in every way.

This is to keep you informed on our current financial status. November Tithes & Offerings $13,119.12 | Operating Cost: $13,714.07
How To Get Involved? There are a few different ways that you can financial give and support The River Church. First is by using the envelope in the little bucket by your row on Sunday morning. Fill out the details on the front and drop it in the offering during the service. Second is by using our secure online form on our website at TheRiverChurch.net/give to give using your credit or debit card. Third you can text the amount you would like to give to 84321 and follow the prompts for setting everything up the first time. Then after that you can quickly and easily text an amount to give. It is very easy! Thank you so much for your continued support both in serving as well as in giving to helping us Love god and Love Others in the Natomas and greater Sacramento area!
If this is your first time joining us here at the River, first we want to say, Welcome! Please in no way feel that you have to give. We want this celebration to be our gift to you.
